Antique Quilt c1910 Tulips in a Vase – Colonial Revival 78in x 82in. Hand appliqued, hand embroidered, machine pieced, hand quilted in parallel diagonal lines about 1.25in apart. 16 blocks, about 17.5in x 18.5in , set straight with one pale green border. Each dual handled vase contains 3 tulips. Each edge has been hand embroidered in a buttonhole stitch in contrasting color. Each block is outlined in hand embroidered red turkey track stitches.Style is very similar to the Colonial Revival period in quilts in the first quarter of the 20th century. The quilt has a false back, off white cotton muslin, which may have been applied prior to hanging in an exhibit, and not original. Long basting stitches present. Cotton batting.
