February Antique & Vintage Quilt Auction
Vintage Dolls of the World Quilt, c1960s, measuring 58×71 inches. Consists of 20 blocks about 10×10 inches, set straight, 4 by 5, each with a doll in traditional costume of different countries. Sashing is in light blue, green and tan, with a blue border. It is machine pieced, hand appliqued, hand embroidered and hand quilted. There are several small details quilted in each of the cornerstones including letters, possibly initials, and numbers, possibly dates or ages. In very good overall condition. This quilt was part of Laura Fisher’s estate. Laura Fisher was a New York based world renowned quilt expert, dealer and author, and in offering these textiles for sale we hope to honor her legacy of style and scholarship.
