February Antique & Vintage Quilt Auction
Antique 1850 paisley shawl repurposed into a small quilt in probably the 1920s measuring 57 x 60 inches. Shawl was machine loomed and machine pieced to create a mirror image symmetrical motif. Reverse is a golden cotton sateen. Very thick cotton batting. It is hand quilted in yellow thread in a diamond pattern with a knife edge finish edge by hand. In very good condition, no issues noted. This quilt was part of Laura Fisher’s estate. Laura Fisher was a New York based world renowned quilt expert, dealer and author, and in offering these textiles for sale we hope to honor her legacy of style and scholarship.
