September Antique Quilt & Textile Auction
c1860s Antique Red & Green Rose of Sharon Quilt about 87in by 87in. 9 hand appliqued Rose of Sharon blocks, 21in x 21in, set straight, 3 by 3 with a hand appliqued swag and tassel border 11in wide. Blocks and borders are hand sewn. Fabrics include a Turkey Red solid and an over-dyed green with black dot print. There appears to be some conservation effort where some of the red was replaced. It was well done. This batting, lovely hand quilting, and a twill tape edge finish the quilt. Please see a video preview of this quilt on the Dana Auctions You Tube Channel.
