September Antique Quilt & Textile Auction
Antique Hexagon Quilt with Linen and Chintz Prints measuring 54in x 80in. This has been cut down from a larger piece. I am dating it to c1820s, but I feel that some of the fabrics, like the linen prints, and the indigo resist, may be earlier. It is hand pieced, hand quilted, with thin cotton batting and linen backing. A narrow binding finishes 3 edges, the 4th edge is finished knife edge, with the row of stitching along the edge (English method of completion).
