Dana Auctions June Quilt & Textile Auction
Vintage c1920s Colonial Revival Eagle bed spread measuring 67 x 97 inches. Believed to be a reproduction of a late 18th century embroidered bed rug. This appears to have been a kit on off white cotton fabric in three panels which are machine pieced together. All of the embroidery is hand executed in a soutache embroidery technique. This piece features an eagle in the center with an olive branch in one claw and arrows in the other, surrounded by a frame of 32 green flowers. Above the medallion is a swag with three tassels and along the borders are undulating vines with flowers, leaves, cornucopias and more. This textile is in poor condition with spots, holes, wear, missing embroidery and water stains. This item was part of the estate of Laura Fisher.
