Rare 19th Century Textile Sample Scrap Book II. Large cloth covered record book measures 18 inches high by 14 inches wide and 5 inches thick. Cover is marked “48, Cotton, Florals, Sheers, Stripes, Geometrics.” Book contains 100 pages, covered on both sides with over 1,500 mostly cotton fabric swatches, including shirtings, florals, paisleys, indigo, mourning prints, neons , plaids, stripes, and more, average swatch size is 4 x 6 inches. Also includes some silk ribbons and trims This scrap book style collection contains mostly fabrics from the mid- to late-1800s, but the pages were likely assembled in the mid-1900s with remounted swatches that appear to be French prints and along with some America samples.
