2 Vintage Amish Quilts in a Monkey Wrench or Hole in the Barndoor Pattern. Larger quilt measures 32×70″, all cotton in shades of blue. Comprised of 55 squares, 5×5″, set straight, 5×11 with 28 monkey wrench blocks and alternating solid blue squares. There is a 2″ pale blue inner border with a 6″ medium blue outer border. Believed to be c1940. Hand pieced and hand quilted, thin cotton batting, blue cotton reverse. In fair condition with storage discoloration, fading and toning. Also included is a c1950 monkey wrench quilt measuring 32×41″. Comprised of 12 blocks, 4.25×4.25″, set on point, 3×12, with black solid alternating squares and setting triangles. There is a 1.75″ inner blue border and a 5″ black outer border. Thin cotton batting and a burgundy reverse. Edge is finished with a blue applied binding. Machine pieced and hand quilted.
