Vintage c1940s Strip Pieced Star Quilt in a nine block arrangement. Believed to be from Lancaster, PA. The quilt measures 86 x 86". The blocks measure 24 x 24", set straight, 3 x 3. There is a 2 1/2 inch wide red white and blue print sashing and 3 1/2 inch wide outer border on all four sides. The center block uses the same fabric in its background as the sashing so the star appears to float. It is hand and machine pieced and the stars are machine appliquéd to the background and it is hand quilted. No batting with a red white and blue cotton print reverse. Edge is finished with an applied red and white print binding, by hand it is in good condition with a few small spots and pencil lines to mark the quilting is evident.
