Tuareg tcherot, also called a kitab or ettouben: a leather and metal protective amulet pendant from the nomadic Tuareg peoples of the Sahara in West Africa, with riveted corners. The case is made to hold protective prayers or verses and is worn to ward off evil, bring good fortune, and offer protection during travel.
