Antique Rose of Sharon quilt from c1860s. 90in x 92in. 9 large blocks 25in x 25in, set straight, 3 by 3, with one border 7in border. It is hand pieced, hand appliqued and hand quilted. The fabrics include Turkey red prints, double process green print, chrome yellow, and an early double pink and a white cotton solid. The hand quilting is magnificent on this quilt, double line hanging grid throughout the blocks, and feathers in the border. Please notice the scallop border. This is a very rare feature for a mid 19th century quilt. The edging is a double process green print, and was applied by hand, on grain! Very difficult to execute without the fabric being on the bias. Very thin cotton batting and solid white cotton backing. Please see our You Tube Channel for a video preview of this quilt.
