Antique Filet Crochet Spread or Table cover measuring 64×68 inches, with World War I doughboys (soldiers) and classic patriotic phrases (Star Spangled Banner, etc) were executed all by hand in skillful filet crochet work. Legible are the wonderful sentiments that are well remembered slogans from World War I. as Deftly crocheted pictorials repeat the classic soldier figure of that era too. Excellent, untouched condition. Published in Sue Reich’s 2016 book on the quilts of the World War I era. This textile was part of Laura Fisher’s estate. Laura Fisher was a New York based world renowned quilt expert, dealer and author, and in offering these textiles for sale we hope to honor her legacy of style and scholarship.
