February Antique & Vintage Quilt Auction
Antique late 18th – early 19th century white cotton worked and trapunto quilt measuring 79 x 85 inches. Hand quilted and stuffed grapes, vines, leaves and flowers against a hand quilted ground of diagonal lines. Two areas of conservation noted. Some areas with age discoloration, otherwise in very good condition. This quilt was part of Laura Fisher’s estate. Laura Fisher was a New York based world renowned quilt expert, dealer and author, and in offering these textiles for sale we hope to honor her legacy of style and scholarship. While not on Laura’s web site, I believe that this would have been one of the starts in the collection and was priced at $9500. Laura also made a note that this quilt was exhibited in Australia. We do our best to describe all items in detail and provide pictures. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
