Antique c 1890s Double X Quilt. Measuring 74×77 inches. Comprised of 40 double X blocks measuring 9.5×9.5 inches, set on point and staggered with alternating red and white centers by each row. Partial blocks fill in setting triangles and larger sections as was needed. There is a 2" white print inner border and a 2" red print outer border. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. There is a thin cotton batting and a red and off white stripe print reverse. The edge is finished with an applied red print binding by hand. It is in good condition with small spots and fold line discoloration down the center. A complicated block to execute and color placement of the red and white print give the quilt a graphic esthetic.
