Antique c1870s Carpenters Star Quilt Top from the estate of Minnie Phillips Heard, Santa Anna, CA. Measures 69×82 inches. Handpieced. In fair condition with storage discoloration, spots, and a few split seams. Blocks set on point with 5" red and white shirting sashing and partial blocks along sides and top and bottom. This quilt top was from the Minnie Phillips Heard Estate of Santa Anna California, though she was not the maker, perhaps her mother was. She was a music teacher and there is a lot of information about her on Ancestry and in the Newspapers of Santa Anna. It is just a top with no backing, batting, or quilting.
