Antique c1870s Basket Quilt measuring 76×92 inches. The scale is very small for a quilt this size, 130 basket blocks, 5×5 inches, set on point, with brown print alternating squares and setting triangles. There is a 2 inch wide sawtooth border in pink and brown prints on 3 sides. It is hand pieced, hand appliqued, and hand quilted. There is a thin cotton batting, and brown print backing. An applied binding in the same print as the back finishes the edge on one side, the other 3 sides are finished back applied to front. This is a very well planned, and finely executed quilt. In good condition with superficial spots and some fading. I believe many of the brown prints were originally purple that have gone fugitive. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
