Antique c1910 Red and Blue 4 Patch Quilt believed to be from Lancaster PA. It measures 41×42 inches. Comprised of 25 4 patches, 4×4 inches, set on point, 5 by 5, with indigo print alternating squares and setting triangles. There is a 1.25 inch wide red print inner border and a 4 inch wide blue outer border. There is thin cotton batting and a blue print reverse. It is machine pieced and hand quilted. I believe the top is c1890, the soft melon color in the 4 patches was most likely Congo red that has faded, and the back is from c1920. Notice the one block set incorrectly. While some would call this a Humility Block, symbolizing that only God is Perfect, anyone who quilts knows that we do not have to intentionally add a mistake in our quilts. In excellent condition.
