Antique c1890 Starburst Quilt measuring 78×94”. There are 8 hexagonal starburst shapes measuring 16” along one side. They are set on point and staggered 2×3 with shirting print, setting triangles and partial blocks on the top and bottom. The hexagons are pieced with diamond shapes starting with a 6 pointed star in the center and radiating out. The setting creates a secondary star pattern. In the large setting triangles a pink 6 pointed star is hand appliqued to the center. A unique design in a rare setting. It is hand pieced, hand appliqued and hand quilted. Medium loft batting and an off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with an indigo print applied binding. There is a Velcro strip for hanging machine applied to back along one side. It is in good condition with overall toning, small spots, and one consistent fabric in 4 blocks are deteriorating. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
