Antique 1897 Wool Crazy Quilt measuring 67×69”. Comprised of 36 crazy quilt blocks 11×11” set straight 6×6. It appears to have been constructed on a foundation fabric The hand embroidery appears to be holding the fabrics down. Each seam is elaborately embroidered in colored floss. Many of the black have botanical motifs such as carnations, lily of the valley, water lilies, fuchsia, daisies, roses, pansies, calla lilies, oak leaves with acorns and more. Also includes girl in bonnet, squirrel, suckling pig and the initials L.S. . In good condition, the backing is a silky rayon and probably added much later. The back also has two narrow sleeves for hanging. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
