Antique wool crazy quilt measuring 68 inches by 68 inches. Comprised of 36 blocks 11.5 inches by 11.5 inches, set straight, 5 by 6 with no borders. There are many hand embroidered motifs like a squirrel, birds, flowers, a bunny, an owl, a pig on a platter, initials LS, and more. The year 1897 is also hand embroidered. Every seam is also hand embroidered over in a decorative stitch. The backing in a 1960s rayon or blend, and comes to the front to finish the narrow edge. There is no batting and no quilting. There is a narrow sleeve along the top, applied by machine, for hanging. Believed to have been from the Shenandoah Valley, VA region. In very good condition, a see just a couple of small moth bites.
