19th Century antique quilt c1870 with many earlier fabrics. Believed to have been from Maine. It measures 82 inches by 82 inches, comprised of 8.5×8.5 inch 9 patch blocks, set on point with 2.5 inch butterscotch sashing. Half block create the setting and corner triangles. Fabrics include Prussian blues and greens from c1845, c1850 chintz fabrics, a few early purples, a c1860 wool challis, and a fabulous Centennial print with the American flag and canons. It is hand pieced, and hand quilted. Reverse is an off white cotton solid fabric. In good condition with some spots on front and back, and one repair noted, made with a reproduction fabric that blended in very well.
