Antique c1880 On Point Nine Patch Quilt most likely from PA, based on the fabrics. This quilt is so much more than a 9 patch with the color placement giving the quilt a secondary woven design. Very graphic textile! It measures 85×102″. Comprised of 32 9 Patch Quilt Blocks, 8.5×8.5″, set on point, staggered, with partial block setting triangles. The fabrics in the blocks consist of a double pink, Lancaster blue, and Chrome yellow. There is a double green sashing with madder cornerstones, 2.75″ wide, and a 12″ wide brown print border. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. Fabulous brown print on the reverse, thin cotton batting, and a thin madder print applied binding. It is in every good condition with only the smallest imperfections noted, appears to be unused and unwashed. This quilt is part of the Living Estate of widely respected Sharon Stark of Sharon’s Antiques Vintage Fabrics and Textiles of Eastern PA. She was an author and long time collector and dealer of antique quilts, fabrics and textiles. Sharon is the authority on Feedsacks, and you may remember her Rickrack website.
