Vintage c1930s Botanical Redwork quilt measuring 64.5″ x 65″. Comprised of 16 blocks 12″ x 12″, set straight 4 x 4, with a 6.5″ white fabric border and a 7/8″ wide red bias tape is machine appliqued to all of the seams. It also creates a zigzag motif in the border and frames the quilt. Motifs include a variety of botanicals including fruits and flowers. It is hand embroidered, machine appliqued and hand quilted. Thin cotton batting and white cotton reverse. Edge is finished with an applied binding and covered over with the red applique frame. In good condition with scattered small spots and toning and the red bias tape is wearing along the top. This quilt is part of the Living Estate of widely respected Sharon Stark of Sharon’s Antiques Vintage Fabrics and Textiles of Eastern PA. She was an author and long time collector and dealer of antique quilts, fabrics and textiles. Sharon is the authority on Feedsacks, and you may remember her Rickrack website.
