Antique c1870-1910 4-Patch quilt measuring 75″ x 79″. Comprised of 156 blocks, 5″ x 5″, set straight 12 x 13, with 78 4-patch blocks with an alternating red print square, with a 7.5″ brown print border. It is hand and machine pieced and hand quilted. Thin cotton batting and brown print reverse. The fabrics in the 4-patch block are believed to be earlier than red print squares. Fabrics include a variety of browns, madders, early purples, overdyed greens, shirtings and more. IN good condition with a few small spots and one fabric in the center deteriorating. This quilt is part of the Living Estate of widely respected Sharon Stark of Sharon’s Antiques Vintage Fabrics and Textiles of Eastern PA. She was an author and long time collector and dealer of antique quilts, fabrics and textiles. Sharon is the authority on Feedsacks, and you may remember her Rickrack website.
