Antique c1860 PA Applique Sampler Quilt measures 77×80". Comprised of 9 appliqued blocks 18×18", set straight, 3×3 with a 12.5" applique border with an undulating vines, leaves and flowers. Each of the applique blocks have a different design and include a heart in the center, leaves, flowers and a bird. Consistent use of an overdyed green solid, yellow solid, orange solid, and oxblood solid. Hand pieced, hand appliqued and hand quilted. There is a thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse. Edge is finished with a narrow overdyed green fabric applied binding. The overall workmanship is worth noting. In poor condition with overall toning, spots, minor lifting of applique, one hole 3" in a block and 4 areas along 2 borders with large damage. This is a wonderful opportunity to own a rare applique sampler quilt to study, reproduce, pattern or conserve. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
