MARY SCHAFER: AMERICAN QUILT MAKER p 148: “Always fascinated with the unusual, when she found the Mourning Quilt she was glad to add it to her collection. Mary thinks this quilt, with its simple design and somber color, may be a traditional funeral cover. Her label attached to the back of the quilt reads as follows: ‘Mourning Quilt Top made by Eliza Andrews Fairchilds, East Jordan, MI. c. 1875-1900. Assembled and completed by MVS, Flushing June 3, 1983.’” Photo on pg 147. It is in good condition with one small spot and a repair noted.
