Vintage 1950s Nigerian Woven Textile and Wrapper. Two West African textiles. Vintage 1950s Nigerian iro, or Yoruba aso-oke wrapper, 51″ x 74″, traditionally worn by Yoruba women on special occasions. Alaari cloth, a prestige textile of southwestern Nigeria, also referred to as eleya, a wedding cloth, with extensive supplementary-weft float inlay and eye-catching metallic thread. Fading along some purple areas. Handwoven West African waist wrapper, 39″ x 62″, with geometric motifs and bands of solid color. Small spots.
